Divergent

     Divergent is a book about a dystopian future where the world has been divided into five groups. The Dauntless who practice bravery, The Erudite who honor knowledge, The Amity who practice peace, The Candor who believe in the truth and Abnegation who are selfless to the point that the never look in the mirror. Beatrice is a born Abnegation and she cant stop herself from asking questions and trying to see her reflection. The book is about being Divergent, able to think outside the box that the clans force you into. The leaders response to this problem is to extinguish them, attempting to preserve their "perfect" society. For fear that the could create a resistance movement, but in this fear they themselves create the environment they feared through there greed. Divergent shows us that we must escape the confines of society and learn to be what we are, even if it is frowned upon in society.
